THE DRUM KIT

First things first!

These are the names of the different drums and cymbals that make up a standard drum kit

The drum kit is made up of a combination of drums and cymbals.

The image shows a standard 5 piece setup.

When talking about how many pieces the drum kit is, you count just the drums.

So a 5 piece drum kit consists of the bass drum, the snare drum, and three tom drums or ‘tom toms’.

While some kits can be bigger or smaller, this is the most common setup.

The toms can also be referred to as tom one, two and three.
